Mia Foster, 4th Grade
Ms. Foster recently graduated from North Carolina State University with a BA in Spanish Languages and Literature and a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language). She first wanted to become an educator when she was in the 10th grade and helped someone learn English. That experience sparked her interest in education. One thing about working with children that she enjoys the most would be that they have a sense of wonder about them that allows them to dream big.

Ultimate goal: To be able to promote learning in our students, to show them how to think deeply and solve problems. For me it gives me the joy and peace of loving on our children. I know that I can never save them all but if I can reach one day by day then for that moment I have made a difference in their decision.
Biggest Achievement: My biggest achievement was after becoming an empty nester I went back to college and got my Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management. As I was working on my Master’s degree
life hit and I had to reset, rethink and take on the responsibility of taking in a two year old great -great nephew who is now at the age of 8. This has been a struggle but thank God I can finally see the growth in him as well as myself.

Erlinda Hernandez Valdovinos, 1st Grade
I am Currently a Student at Central Piedmont Community College pursuing in the field of early childhood education. My passion to help students learn and grow academically and as a person comes from my previous experience as a student myself as I had many teachers throughout my school years who looked out for me and encouraged me to become who I am now. I love the characteristics of an educator who is dedicated, a motivator, and a friend at the same time, it's what I hope to fulfill in the lives of the children. Being able to work one on one every day with a student and see their starting point be challenging and a journey of mistakes and trials and watching them grow beyond their own expectations not only lets them know they are reaching their goals as a student but also lets us know as educators that we are reaching our goal of making a difference in their lives, inspiring them to believe in themselves and open a path to success.

Justin Castro-Vargas- 5th Grade
I am currently a high school senior graduating in June. I’ve always been academically gifted and never struggled much in school, but that was not the case for most of my friends and the people around me. Growing up I noticed those people did not receive enough love or attention from our teachers, so I got inspired to be the adult that would spread positivity into those children’s lives. There’s too much hate in the world to always be negative. My favorite part about working with the kids is listening to them, I can listen to their crazy stories all day and enjoy making them feel understood.

Jhoel G. Rubio, Floating TA
He is currently a Senior in High school. He’ll be attending college in the Fall of 2023 and majoring in Nursing with a double minor in Education and Business. Later, he plans to earn a Master's Degree in Nursing and to become a Nurse Practitioner. The primary reason that he got into education was to see how well he would be able to work with children. The hope is that this experience will help him determine if pediatrics would be a good fit as a future nurse. For Jhoel, the best part about working with the children is learning from them, learning about their day, their favorite activities, thoughts, etc.
